Open Question: Please help with a math (systems with three variables) problem?

Open Question: Please help with a math (systems with three variables) problem?

Q1: y = x/2 - 2/3
6y = 3x - 4
-3x + 6y = -4
This is equivalent to 3x - 6y = 4, so the two lines coincide. All real numbers don't work on this system. The solution is {(x, y): 3x - 6y = 4}, or all points on the line with equation 3x - 6y = 4. This is NOT the same as all real numbers.

Q2: This system is dependent, with z = 0 and x - 2y = 0, so there are infinitely many solutions, all in the form x = 2t, y = t, z = 0.

Open Question: Are there units associated with "A" (collision frequency) in the Arrhenius equation?

For the Arrhenius equation in chemistry, does the A (collision frequency) have units associated with it or is it just # of collisions?

Open Question: psychic ability some one help?

I believe in psychic ability, and that you have a gift. Based on what you're saying, it sounds like you have verifiable evidence of your prediction down to a specific level.

Some will say it's delusion, the result of the brain injury, or mental illness when a person experiences psychic phenomena, but don't doubt yourself. This is something I have experienced in the past, as well down to some very specific details that go beyond explanation.

Some people believe it's a high intuition. Others believe it's a natural gift of spirit. I'm curious what you are seeking help about, because it sounds like you are aware of what you're experiencing. It also sounds like you have the ability to critically analyze it when you say it's a "little freaky." Are you worried that you'll be perceived badly or are losing your sanity?

For those who are already prone to psychic experiences, I believe certain mental states and bring these out more strongly-- especially when there's less "ego" to get in the way of the images and thoughts pouring through the stream of consciousness.... Some bring it out through meditation, others through drugs, and yet others perhaps could have a brain injury bring this out. Is it something you just "know" or is it something you sense in another way? Are you primarily visual? Audible? Conceptual? Clairvoyant?

And, as long as we're at it, what do you read about me? :) (Hey, never hurts to ask.)

Open Question: I made an investment of $6000 at an annual simple interest rate of 5.5%?

I made an investment of 6000 at an annual simple interest rate of 5.5%. How much additional money must she invest at an annual simple interest rate of 10% in order for the total annual interest earned to be 7% of the investment?
I can't quite set up the equation.

6000(.055) + .10x = (6000[.055] + .10x)(.07)?

Open Question: quick question in factoring?

Open Question: quick question in factoring?

I am assuming you meant 3y^2 + y - 2

Look at the +y and -2. Do you see how the +y is actually a (1)y? Because anything multiplied by 1 is itself. What you probably don't know is that when you factor, the -2 and +1 in (3y-2)(y+1), has to add up to +1, because when you distribute it out, thats the only way "y" can have a (1) in front of it.

Take a look at what 3y distributes to. (3y-2)(y+1). If you just distribute the 3y, you get 3y^2 + 3y. If you distribute the -2, you get -2y-2. See how the "y"s add up and make (1)y?

Basically, to factor that, you take out a (3y____________) leave some space, then multiply that to (y_______) because 3y*y = 3y^2. Thats the first part. Then you figure out what two numbers added together would make 1, because it is (1)y when you distribute it out. But 3y multiplies to the 1, like I showed you above. So, What added to 3y makes 1y? -2y!! So what are the coefficients? 1 and -2

So you get (3y - 2)(y + 1). It wouldn't work the other way, because then 3y would multiply into the -2
Does -6y + 1y = +y? No.

(3y + 1)(y - 2) = 3y^2 - 6y + y - 2 = 3y^2 - 5y - 2.
See?
Hope this helps!

Open Question: Math question pls show work?

Judging from your profile picture, I must say this is quite a shame

Using your real name/picture
The terrible phrasing of the question
Lack of a picture (not necessary, would be nice)

All amateur mistakes. Yet you look to be at least 16, you should know better.
If you're going to have us do your work, do it right.

You didn't even tell us what type of triangle it is?!

Open Question: What is the y intercept of the line tangent to the graph of the function...?

Open Question: What is the y intercept of the line tangent to the graph of the function...?

You are doing OK so far.

As a previous answerer said, y = 9/2. This is the y-coordinate of the graph of f(x) when x = 2.

y - 9/2 = (13/4) (x - 2)
4y - 18 = 13x - 26
4y = 13x - 8
y = (13/4) x - 2
That is the tangent line equation, so the y-intercept is -2.

Open Question: I get nevous when I'm around my mans parents?

Open Question: I get nevous when I'm around my mans parents?

My girlfriend had the exact same problem. We've been dating for 3 and a half years now and she is completely comfortable with my parents but at first it was hard. She got nervous in front of them all of the time and didn't know what to say. My parents are very relaxed people so I decided to plan a day out for my mom and my girlfriend so that they can get to know eachother better. They both enjoy golfing so I made them golf together and after spending the day they were very well acquainted. I did the same with my father but they went to go watch a hockey game. Ever since those two get togethers they've been comfortable with eachother ever since.

I would suggest trying the same idea with his parents, figure what you have in common and what you enjoy doing and try to get together and do something. It's always worth a try. :D

I'm writing a story (it's just for fun) where someone's gun is taken away using a strong electromagnet. Is this possible, i.e., are guns attracted by magnets?

(Seriously, how do they work?)
