Open Question: why do we have nitrogen in the atmosphere?

23:43 Publicado por Flechado16

Our planet: The Earth has an atmosphere that contains 78.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, and small percentage of various other chemicals and elements. What I want to know is what is the Nitrogen on our Planet used for? I thought that breathing in nitrogen could kill you, and it composes most of our atmosphere, so why aren't any of us just dying so suddenly. I'm still confused, I assume your answer will be that the oxygen displaces the nitrogen. But I want to make sure, and I also want to know what purpose Nitrogen has for sustaining life here on Earth, if there is any purpose for it.

Thank You.
