Open Question: Can one consider a "center of charge"?

Member since:August 11, 2008Total points:995 (Level 2)I know that the notion of center of charge may not always be well defined, since the dipole moment divided by the total charge may not be defined (when the net charge is zero), but when this "center of charge" does exist can it be treated similarly to a center of mass? Can an electric field be calculated based on a group of charges if one pretends that the group is concentrated at its "center of charge" ?Answer QuestionBe the first to answer this question.
