All scientific claims have to be validated by several independent people, the earth is 4.5 billion years old, the universe is 13.72 billion years old. It's not a matter of debate, many scientists have checked for them selves to validate it. Scientist are not a hive mind unlike many religious people, they work hard to disprove the work of their peers.

You can never convince someone to believe something they don't, don't waste your time trying. If it bothers you so much stay away from them but another persons beliefs shouldn't bother you.
