Open Question: What do my hamsters' bites mean?
Home >All Categories > Science & Mathematics >Zoology >Open Questionhere is what my 2 hamsters do when i approach them:
1(which likes me more i guess): i put my hand -containing some food- next to her, she smells around a bit and then goes on my hand and eats her favourite bits, but sometimes she smells or licks my thumb (her tongue is so small i cant know what she's doing) when i put her in the cage, and give her the tip of my figure from between the bars, she bits lightly (no pain, and she doesn't withdraw)
2(he seems more shy) when i put my hand with food next to him, he smells around for a longer time, but he gets on my hand anyway. i can feel however that he shivers much more than the first hamster (maybe of fear).he eats, but sometimes smells the tip of my fingers and bits the fleshy part, but weakly, and without trying to escape.
Now i concluded that they are gaining trust, but what about the bites? i think that they most probably mistook my finger for food, since they didn't bite hard and didn't run away.. the reason im so afraid is that one of my old hamsters bit me hard on purpose, and made me bleed.. could those small innocent bites turn into dangerous ones? thanks :)Answer QuestionBe the first to answer this question.
