I'm going to keep mangrove tree crabs in artificial environments at school and I'm going to monitor their feeding behavior. Part of the experiment is to determine whether mangrove tree crabs prefer young or old leaves.
I'm able to obtain young mangrove leaves because it's legal for me to collect pods, which means I can grow them. However, I can't get a hold of older leaves unless they fall off the plants, in which case their far too old. What's the best way to go about doing this? I can't watch them in the wild because the crabs are too small to tag without hindering their movement, and they are difficult to follow since they are too small.
Anyways, is there some scientific permit I can obtain? Is there any way I can be able to collect older leaves without being arrested? I'm not going to be illegal about it.Oops, I wrote "their" instead of "they're." My grammatical apologies.5 minutes ago
