Open Question: Quadratics could anyone help?
The function h(d) = -0.05d2 + 0.7d models the height of a ball being kicked. If h(d) is the height in meters and d is the horizontal distance in metres from where the ball is kicked, then how far does the ball travel horizontally until it first hits the ground?
The diagonal of a rectangle is 7cm. The length of the rectangle is 4cm
more than the width.
a) Define the length and width in terms of a single variable
b) Use Pythagorean’s theorem to write an equation that relates the diagonal, length, and width.
c) Find the dimensions of the rectangle. Round your solution to the nearest tenth.
