Open Question: what is the value of cos2x if x=pi/3?

If x = pi/3, you're looking for the value of cos(2pi/3) (or cos(120))

120 degrees is in quadrant II, where cosine is negative. The reference angle is 60 degrees and cos(60) = 1/2.

So cos(2pi/3) = - 1/2
