Open Question: If all of life(animals,plants) were to suddenly disapear on earth...?

Say asteroids were to hit every spot on the earth leaving massive craters and all the animals and plants to die, it would probably take a while, but wouldn't the earth start growing grass, and plants again? And after a very long time of evolution make creatures? This is something I'm very curious about...Answer Question
