The best explanation I've been able to find (and frankly it doesn't explain very much) is that nipples aren't a sex-linked characteristic. In other words, nipples are just one of those sexually neutral pieces of equipment, like arms or brains, that humans get regardless of sex. men and women have similar tissues and body parts. If anything the embryo follows a 'female template'. That is why nipples are present in both sexes. It is the effect of the genes, the Y chromosome and the hormone testosterone that brings about the changes and masculinises the embryo. Testosterone promotes the growth of the penis and testicles. Because nipples are there before this process begins the nipples stay!kd by kd Member since:June 01, 2010Total points:562 (Level 2)Why's the sky blue. Its only after that that they develop their x/x or x/y chromosomes. (x=female, y=male). So because everybody has an "x" chromosome, males and females share some parts, i.e; nipples.Chris by Chris Member since:July 30, 2008Total points:397 (Level 2)Men have an X and a Y chromosome. They have nipples because of their x chromosome. They are unable to produce milk like females because of their Y chromosome. Females have 2 X chromosomes and no Y chromosomes, so they are able to produce milk.Imagine a guy without nipples. It would look really weird.

Open Question: Will Adderall Show Up on a Drug Test?

Home >All Categories > Science & Mathematics >Medicine >Open QuestionOkay, so Im on probation, and I get drug tested randomly, and, like a dumbass, I took an Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts) this morning and I was wondering, what would it show up as (IF it does) on a 5 panel drug test (MDMA, THC, Methamphetamine, Opiates, Cocaine). The obvious answer would probably be methamphetamine, but REMEMBER it is NOT methamphetamine, only amphetamine which doesnt include the methyl isomer, so I was wondering, does it even show up? Proffesional answers greatly appreciated!!Answer Question

Open Question: What does the word "Rise" mean in transformer nameplate ?

It means capable of operating at 55 internal temperature above it's ambient rating.

If it's ambient rating is 25 then it's still capable of operating at 80 deg internal temperature.

This would be a class F insulation.

Open Question: Was there a spirit in my house?

Home >All Categories > Science & Mathematics >Alternative >Paranormal Phenomena >Open QuestionStarfire Starfire Member since:June 28, 2008Total points:3,338 (Level 4)The night before my graduation my brother had a friend over. When my brother went in his room to get his blanket there was this big black figure acrossed his bed. There was nothing that could of made a shadow like that in his room. Then when my brother and his friend were about to fall asleep downstairs the lap turned on all by itself. After that they heard footsteps going up the stairs. No one in my house was walking around at that time. I am starting to think that it was my grandpa who passed away back in September because there is no history of anybody who died in my house. Are there any explanations for this? If so, can you tell me what they are? Thanks!Answer Question

Open Question: smallest distance between two planes in space?

Are you asking how to find the smallest distance between two surfaces of 2 functions?

In that case use the distance formaul d = sqrt( f(x)^2 + g(x)^2) where d is the distance, then find the derivatives which will give u the maximum distance (if there is one) and the minimum, this minimum value is the smallest distance.

Open Question: Name two reasons why this ecosystem would have a low rate of speciation...?

Open Question: Name two reasons why this ecosystem would have a low rate of speciation...?

No natural barriers - gene flow is not obstructed among populations.
organisms can easily leave or enter the ecosystem - immigration provides a steady gene flow from outside of the ecosystem which easily flows throughout because of the lack of barriers.

These create a system that has high rates of gene flow in and out as well as throughout. These properties are not conducive to speciation because genetic isoloation (whether reproductive or ecological) is what causes speciation events.
