Open Question: Completing the square help?
The square root of 6 is approximately 2.45.
You get two separate answers because in one, you add 2.45 and in the other you subtract it.
One is -7 + 2.45 = -4.55
The other is -7 - 2.45 = -9.25

x^2 + 6x + c
= x^2 + 6x + 9 - 9 + c
= (x + 3)^2 + (c - 9)
= x^2 + 6x + 9 - 9 + c
= (x + 3)^2 + (c - 9)
What do you mean "solve"? Do you want the roots?
(x + 3)^2 + (c - 9) = 0
(x + 3)^2 = 9 - c
x + 3 = +/- sqrt(9 - c)
x = -3 +/- sqrt(9 - c)
