A uniformly charged square whose side is 2s with surface charge density +s is lying in the xy plane. Find the electric field at point P lying on the axis collinear with the center of the square and a distance b from the center. Show that the electric field E at point P is

E = Q log {[b + s] x [s + (s^2 + (b - s)^2)^1/2]} (i^) /
16 {[b - s] x [s + (s^2 + (b + s)^2)^1/2]}

Open Question: Physic homework help: what is the velocity of the 3.00-kg object after the collision?

Open Question: Physic homework help: what is the velocity of the 3.00-kg object after the collision?

A 3.00-kg object traveling 20.0 m/s west collides with a 5.00-kg mass object traveling 12.0 m/s west. The collision is perfectly elastic, what is the velocity of the 3.00-kg object after the collision?

I have tried 12 m/s west which is wrong,
the only options are
1) 8m/s west
2) 20m/s east
3) 10m/s west

Open Question: Physics homework problem, Icant seem to get correct?

Open Question: Physics homework problem, Icant seem to get correct?

(a) First, you need to find the velocity of the pole vaulter after they've fallen from a stop at 7 m down to 1m, where they hit the bag. Then assume a constant deceleration over the 0.7 m distance that brings him to a stop, and solve for the time. For each part, find the right equations from the basic equations of motion, and solve them.

(b) Same deal, but he falls from 7 m to 0.218 m, and then undergoes constant acceleration that brings him to a stop in (0.218-0.054 = 0.164) m.

Good luck!

1/6 pound hazelnuts
3/4 pound cashews
1/4 pound pecans

Questions
a) Nuts cost $5.00 per pound. What is Jayne's Bill
b)What fraction of the mix does each kind of the nut represent? (optional)
c)Diego does not like cashews, so he asks for Jayne's mix without the cashews. What is his bill?
d) Kalli is making small bowls of nuts for a party. Each bowl uses 1/4 cup of nuts. Kalli has 3 & 3/8 cups of nuts. How many bowls can she make?

2. Shaquille likes dried fruit. He wants a mix of peaches, cherries, pineapple chunks, and apple rings. The following chart shows how much the scoop shop has of each fruit and how much of each fruit shquille orders;;chart is shown below

The Scoop Shop's Stock Shaquille's Order

1 & 1/2 pounds of dried peaches 1/3 of the stock
4/5 pound dried cherries 1/2 of the stock
3/4 pound dried pineapple chunks 2/3 of the stock
2 & 1/4 pounds of dried apple rings 3/5 of the stock

a)How many pounds of dried fruit does Shaquille order? (explain)
b)Dried fruit cost $5.00 per pound. What is shaquille's bill?(explain)

Explain yur reasoning

3) what operations did you use to find the cost of the nuts in Jayne's mix? (explain)
4)How did you find the fraction of the mix for each kind of nut
5. 4 divide 1/3 = 12 and 4 divide two third = 6. Why is the second answer half of the first answer?
6)Use the following problems to show the steps involved in algorithms for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. Explain your reasoning.
a)5/6 + 1/4
b)3/4 - 2/3

Open Question: Please help with Calculus homework on Rolle's Theorem?

Open Question: Please help with Calculus homework on Rolle's Theorem?

Pretty sure f(5) = f(7) in this case. I am not going to do the arithmetic. You can do that.

Rolle's theorem basicly says that if the two end points are equal. There must be a point c between the two end points that have a tangent slope of 0. It's pretty intuitive if you think about it. If the two points have the same y coordinate, than it's either a straight line between them or a curve that goes up then down or etc. There must be a 0 tangent slope somehwere.

To get that point, you set the derivative of f(x) to 0 and solve for x, which is would be the point c.

df/dx = -48 + 8x = 0
x=48/8.... c = 48/8
