Open Question: Physics homework problem, Icant seem to get correct?
(a) First, you need to find the velocity of the pole vaulter after they've fallen from a stop at 7 m down to 1m, where they hit the bag. Then assume a constant deceleration over the 0.7 m distance that brings him to a stop, and solve for the time. For each part, find the right equations from the basic equations of motion, and solve them.
(b) Same deal, but he falls from 7 m to 0.218 m, and then undergoes constant acceleration that brings him to a stop in (0.218-0.054 = 0.164) m.
Good luck!
