1. A steel beam 2 cm x 2cm and 1.5 m long fits tightly between two pieces of concrete at 15 °C, what force is generated by the beam when it heats up to 35 °C in the hot sun? (Ysteel = 2.0 x 1011 N/m2, asteel = 12 x 10-6/°C)
