The other day I dropped a bottle with about 2 L of water while I was sleeping and it soaked the rug; it was rather in the far corner and it had no access to sunlight and room temperature was way below Boiling Point (ruling out any sort of direct evaporation). The rug now is dry (around 2 days later). I know liquids have vapor pressure and eventually evaporate of the sorts, is this just the case given enough time to dry up completely? Another possibility is the liquid went somewhere else (probably below the rugs surface into my neighbor's roof, with which he will probably not be happy at all). Ideas? Thanks!Answer Question

Is that as the molecules move around they share energy and some molecules gain enough energy to break free and be water vapor. The lower the pressure in the air the easier this is. That is why water boils at a lower temp at higher altitudes. :-D
