Open Question: If there is a nuclear meltdown in Japan how will it effect the USA?

Even if it leaks as much as Chernobyl, there will be a little radiation that reaches the USA. You do realize, I hope, there is a HUGE ocean between Japan and the USA.
Of course, any radiation is bad. It's bad to have a X-ray or MRI.
At this point, fear and speculation do not improve this unfortunate situation.
