Open Question: Why are there no "Hot Jupiters" in our solar system?

Open Question: Why are there no "Hot Jupiters" in our solar system?

many of the planets that have been discovered orbiting other stars are "hot Jupiters", or planets the size of Jupiter but that orbit very close to their stars. Our nebular theory of the formation of the Solar System says that planets like Jupier can't form near their star, so how did these "hot Jupiters" come to be as we see them? Why are there no "hot Jupiters" in our own Solar System?

I know that our Jovian planets form in the outer of our solar system and away from the sun, but I don't understand why extraplanet like these form near closer to their star?

I always have an eerie feeling in my house, it got so bad I had to switch my room because the feeling got so strong. My cat meows at nothing, my mom sees ghosts of loved ones that passed away, I'm a Christian but I'm not obsessive with religion, I don't watch scary movies, read scary stories, dint go in haunted houses or on hayrides during Halloween, I HATE scary! What could it be?Answer Question

Open Question: Why was there a spider in my slipper?

Open Question: Why was there a spider in my slipper?

I don't think the spider thought that there might be a giantine foot come to occupy the slipper. Besides, depending on how small it is, it might still have found it a handy, safe spot. Spiders are very shy. They hide in dark corners and in small recesses for safety. This spider will probably not go to that slipper again, if it learned its (hard!) lesson.

Another thing about arachnids is that they have an exoskeleton that protects them. It's good armor even against the large foot of a human. The human's skin is rather flexible, and the spider skeleton very rigid. I don't think the spider would come to much harm unless you were chasing them to stomp on them.

Open Question: Why do scientists find old human-like skulls and assume we used to be apes? What proof is there that we've cha?

There are many facts that point that we evolved from a primate that isn't around anymore. There are many details of a humanoid skull that are different from a gorilla, as you say.

There is also this newfangled discovery called DNA. They can compare the DNA from the skulls they have found with human DNA from now. We share 98% of our DNA with chimps, but we didn't evolve from them. We share a common ancestor from way, way back, and somewhere along the line our genetic lines split and one branch evolved into us and another evolved into chimps.

The skulls they have found, along with other skeletons are from that common ancestor before the branch separated.

Open Question: Is there something different about the genes of my bluebelly?

Open Question: Is there something different about the genes of my bluebelly?

I have a Western Fence lizard that I've had for about a year now.

Now usually, when it is cold out, a Western Fence Lizard will shift to a blackish color in order to absorb more sunlight. When it starts warming up, the lizard will turn back to its regular grayish-brown pigment.

Mine's different. When it is getting cold, he turns a shade of gray-brown slightly lighter than normal, and when it gets hot out, he goes dark. I have other bluebellies and he seems to be the only one with this thing, save for another lizard outside.

So could this pigment reversal be a genetic problem? I assume it's a problem because turning dark in the heat isn't exactly a good thing.
