Pythagorean Identity
sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1
or
cos^2(x) = 1 - sin^2(x)
sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1
or
cos^2(x) = 1 - sin^2(x)
substitute it into the left hand side
1 - sin^2(x) - sin^2(x) = 1 - 2sin^2(x)
Now LHS = RHS
