Gary H by Gary H Member since:November 16, 2007Total points:24,578 (Level 6)If you reduce the pressure on water, the boiling point temperature goes down. This is why some cooking recipes are a little different in Denver CO than they are at sea level. Higher altitude lowers the boiling point of water. Reverse is lso true, if you pressurize the system, like a pressure cooker on the stove, the boiling point goes up. If the atmospheric pressure goes down far enough, the water in the astronaut's body starts to boil.
