Open Question: Once you use Googles' "Distance Measurement Tool" can/how do you save the journey measurement?

I plan to Kayak the Thames, I measured the length of my journey using the tool
But i want to save it, i am logged in to my google account etc, anyone know how?
Unfortunately, the journey/distination planner doesnt account for rivers.....

Google Earth - entertainer your line with the mouse clicks and it says spend or clear
save and study it, modify the colour etc. It appears as a new 'place' and can be emailed using your google email.
